Blood in UrineBlood in the urine is called hematuria. If blood is visible to the naked eye, called gross hematuria. Meanwhile, if the blood can only be seen under the microscope is called hematuria mikrokopik.

If there is hematuria, means there has been leakage of blood vessels in the urinary tract system, possibly in the kidney, perlvis kidney, ureter, bladder, or urethra.

Some causes of hematuria are:

* Urinary tract infections
* Kidney infection (pyelonephritis)
* Glomerulonephritis
* Kidney stones or bladder stones
* Enlarged prostate
* Kidney or prostate cancer
* Congenital disorders such as sickle cell anemia, Alport syndrome
* Kidney Injury
Medications: aspirin, penicillin, warfarin, heparin, cyclophosphamide.
* Sport weight

There is no specific treatment for hematuria. Treatment depends on the cause:

* Urinary tract infections are usually treated with antibiotics.
* Kidney stones, with lots of drinking. If the stone is still not out, can be performed ESWL or surgery.
* Enlarged prostate, treated with drugs or surgery.
* Cancer, performed the surgery, to remove cancerous tissue, or chemotherapy.

Risk factors for hematuria is a person aged 40 years or older, smoking, work that often makes it exposed to chemicals, such drugs or never done irradiated pelvis.

There are 3 types of hematuria, namely:

* Initial hematuria, if blood comes out during the early urine.
* Terminal hematuria, if blood comes out at the end of urination. This is probably caused by the pressure at the end of urine that makes small blood vessels dilate.
* Total hematuria, if blood came out from start to finish urinating. This is probably due to blood has been assembled from one organ such as the ureter or kidney.

Complaints plays an important role to determine which direction the next examination, such as occurs when hematuria, how the pain and the area where the sore is on the waist, lower abdomen or middle abdomen.

To diagnose hematuria is usually done using a dipstick urine test, if there are positive results of blood then conducted further tests with a microscope, and then proceed with the examination of urine cytology and physical examination.

If the urine analysis found a protein, nitrites or leukocytes, the possibility of urinary tract infection (urinary tract infection / UTI) which can be caused by bacteria or viruses.

Hematuria may be an indication of a serious disturbance in the body and usually occurs without any symptoms, so often ignored. Additionally, consuming lots of water so that more clear urine color can not cure hematuria.
